evanescence

evanescence
1. (evanescence) (738↑, 91↓)
in actuallity it means: to dissipate or disappear like vapor

life is in a constant state of evanescence.

2. (evanescence) (674↑, 93↓)
1) To disappear or vanish into a mist. 2) 00's rock band from Little Rock, America. Songs include Bring Me To Life and Everbody's Fool. Sometimes called Christian Rock because they are Christians; only one song on Fallen, Torniquet, mentions God or Christ.

2) Did you hear the new Evanescence song?

3. (evanescence) (892↑, 315↓)
An amazing rock band from Arkansas, USA. They released songs such as Bring Me To Life, Going Under, Everybody's Fool and My Immortal, although their older work and demos, in my opinion is better. They are NOT fake, unlike some other bands ;)

Amy Lee is just amazing.

4. (evanescence) (552↑, 164↓)
Apart from the proper dictionary definition, Evanescence is a rock band with great lyrics. You don't have to be a depressed or be into rock to appreciate their music. Even if you're a content and happy person, you can to some extent relate to their songs. If they weren't any good, they wouldn't have so much publicity, think about it, how many other bands in the same genre have succeeded like them.

Eg) My Immortal - lost love? Going Under - finally letting go? Bring me to Life - self recognition? Breathe No More - Self-improvement is for the weak, the strong seek self-destruction.

5. (Evanescence) (602↑, 227↓)
Probably the best band to ever come into existence. Amy Lee's voice is perfect; the contradiction between the music and her singing sounds wonderful. Typically called "goth rock", the band doesn't really fit under that definition.

The people at my school don't understand good music; no one here likes Evanescence.

Evanescence is one of the best bands EVER. With the enchantingly beautiful, harmonious voice of Amy Lee, and an awesome beat, there is NOTHING better\! They were founded by Amy Lee and Ben Moody (who left the band durring thier European tour in October of 2004).

"I just got the new Evanescence CD/DVD 'Anywhere But Home', and it ROCKS\!" "I Love Amy Lee of Evanescence, her voice is so beautiful.

7. (Evanescence) (368↑, 181↓)
A tragically underestimated rock band hailing from Little Rock, Arkansas, U.S. Often known by idiots for "calling themselves gothic," "ripping off Lacuna Coil," and other overconformed demi-insults. Most known for the songs "My Immortal" and "Bring Me to Life." People generally forget that Evanescence has a large collection of songs pre-Fallen. Ev have covered many songs, most notably "Tourniquet" ("My Tourniquet") by Soul Asylum and "Thoughtless" by Korn.

Annabelle: Despite how their lead vocalist always tries to go around saying "Oh, I'm such a demi-goth." Reply: Imbucile, stop pretending you know what you're saying and actually read a fucking interview.

8. (Evanescence) (183↑, 100↓)
A band headed by the amazing Amy Lee. It's not a goth or Christian group, as many people think. It has been labeled as "dark epic rock" and "drama rock." Both work. Pick whichever one you prefer.

None to give.

9. (Evanescence) (218↑, 144↓)
A great band formed back in 1996 that is constantly called a [Lacuna Coil] rip off band but both formed in 1996 (Lacuna Coil formed as Sleep of Right in 1994, but released no stuff until 1998 after they had changed their name to Lacuna Coil) and released their first EP's in 1998.

Girl: Eww. Evanescence, they like totally ripped of Lacuna Coil. Guy: They both started in 1996 so getyour facts right

10. (evanescence) (168↑, 96↓)
The best band in the world, started by [Amy Lee] and [Ben Moody] as an Alternative Rock band, although some songs are considered goth rock. Originally from Little Rock, AK, U.S.A.. They have a new album set to release in March, 2006. [Ben Moody] has left the band.

[Amy Lee] from Evanescence has the best voice.

11. (evanescence) (128↑, 68↓)
Evanescence- A wonderful band from Arkansas. That plays the most beautiful music out there. They are the most perfect example of a role model. And none of there songs ever let me down. They all rock. So if you think that they suck, shut up\! And go listen to your crappy music\! And you an evvy fan out there. You rock\! Go Evanescence\!

Those who follow the footsteps of evanescence are bound to have a good life in the future.

12. (Evanescence) (123↑, 68↓)
1. To disappear, like vapor. 2. A great band formed in Little Rock, Arkansas. Founders are Amy Lee (singer, piano) and Ben Moody (ex-guitar). Other band members are Rocky Gray (drums), William Boyd (bass), John LeCompt and Terry Balsamo (guitars). As of now, the primary songwriter is Amy Lee. They are simply a rock group, usually falsely mis-labeled as christian rock. This happened because a cover of Tourniquet (song originally done by Rocky's old band) appeared on Fallen. The words "God" and "Christ" are mentioned a few times, but that'a all they're mentioned in the entire album. The album was first put in Christian stores, then taken out soon after. Their best selling album, Fallen, has gone 6X Platinum. Recently, their live album, Anywhere But Home, caused Wal-Mart to be sued becauseit was being sold in Maryland without a Parental Advisory sticker attached to it. On track five of the album, a cover of the song Thoughtless, originally by Korn, Amy Lee swears 3 times during the course of the song, sticking with the original lyrics. Apparently, swearing in one song on an album warrants a Parental Advisory, and Marlyand Wal-Marts cannot, by law, sell albums containing this.

Evanescence facts: Rock, not Christian rock Not a Lacuna Coil rip-off Greatest band ever

13. (Evanescence) (96↑, 46↓)
1. To disapate like vapor. 2. The greatest band in the world, with the most talented singer, Amy Lee.

"My favorite band is "Evanescence."

14. (Evanescence) (135↑, 108↓)
Simply words cannot describe how good they are\! similar to Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, Him and,to a certain extent, Cradle Of Filth\! They so good\! Imaginary is best\! thatscary bit in the middle is the defining moment of my life\!

Evanescence are the best band ever\! i concur\!

15. (Evanescence) (108↑, 91↓)
A great band. With a kick ass lead singer. Their genre is post grunge. Which is cool, because I'm a big fan of grunge music. It sucks that Ben left the band. They've had 2 albums out, and they came to their height of popularity in march of '03 when bring me to life was released. Though they are still very popular.

I was a fan of 12 stones, so I heard the duet that evaneacence did with them. I liked Bring me to life a lot. I heard the song on WWE Raw, a month before it was released.

1) To dissapear into mist. 2) A gothic alternative band (My personal favorite).

Go buy Evanescence's 'The Open Door' album on iTunes. It's fricken amazing.

17. (evanescence) (30↑, 15↓)
a band including Amy Lee, an amazing singer with an ethereal voice. Her songs are mostly on the darker side, but 'Good Enough' talks of hope and love. Should be on tour.

'bring me to life' by evanescence

18. (evanescence) (95↑, 81↓)
The best band with the best songs ever\!\! "Although Away From Me" comes across pop-like to me, "Missing" will forever remain perfect in my heart. They come across as Dark Rock, Hard Rock, Goth Rock. (although they aren't really goth...)

Away from me is an awesome song\!\! -sings- I hide behind a smile as this perfect plan unfolds... Missing\!\! -sings- Please, please, forgive me...

19. (Evanescence) (17↑, 5↓)
The best Alternative metal/Rock Band on earth. The band is led by Amy Lee, The band is releasing a new album sometime in 2010, Amy states the album will be ''Better, more interesting'' than all the other Evanescence albums.

Evanescence: It's true, We're all a little insane, but its so clear, Now that im unchained... Fear is only in our minds, taking over all the time, Fear is only in our minds but its taking over all the time.. fan: *screams* OMG\! This is so cool\!\!\!

1. The event of fading and gradually vanishing from sight. See also: [fade], [vanish] --- 2. A metal band, founded on Little Rock (Arkansas) around the years 1995. The founders, were Ben Moody and Amy Lee. (Full: Amy Lynn Hartzler née Lee) Ben Moody, who also served as a guitarist during Evanescence's first album, "Fallen" and most/all the Demos, evanesced from the band. Apparently, Amy Lee wanted to make the second album, of the 3-album contract with the recording studio ([The Open Door]) less "Christian-rock". Ben Moody didn't seem to agree, and so they decided that one of them should leave. Ben left, as you might have guessed... and Evanescence's second album, The Open Door was a hit. Now, we are expecting the new album, which is said to be released on 2010. :)

1. The evanescence of the morning mist wasn't completed, so the view from the roof was spectacular. --- 2. In my opinion, Ben Moody was right. Although, the second album of Evanescence didn't look very good to me, I wouldn't have preferred another vocalist for the band...

21. (evanescence) (62↑, 55↓)
At first the band had found some local fame in Little Rock, releasing their first CDs there, before blasting on to the music scene with their debut album Fallen which has sold over 14 million copies worldwide to date. Many people consider the band rock but the band doesnt truly fit the criteria for rock. The real genre of the group is Symphonic or Gothic Metal.

Evanescence is underated

22. (Evanescence) (20↑, 14↓)
An awesome band who got my attention with just one song.

OMG yes\! An Evanescence song\!

A band that I used to be obsessed with, now I think they're so-so. On the music: The music on the first album (Fallen) has this "help me I'm dying" theme, which gets annoying really fast, and the songs all sound exactly the same. The second album (The Open Door) is a bit better, but it's not as drastically different as Amy Lee keeps saying it is (except maybe for Good Enough). The instrumental arangements are much better than in the 1st album, especially in Lacrymosa and Your Star, so the songs are mostly distinguishable. The lyrics, although they're a bit less depressing, are still really corny. Good Enough, which is apparently the most controversial song among Ev fans, doesn't fit with the album or the band at all. They're a rock band--so if they were gonna write a happy song, they could've at least written a happy rock-sounding song instead of a cheesy ballad. Despite all that, though, Amy Lee does have an amazing voice. It's not whiney or shrieky or too high--people who say that don't know what real singing sounds like. They sound really good live, compared to most bands. Obviously Amy's voice doesn't sound as good on stage as it does on the album, because in the studio she doesn't jump around while she's singing, and she probably do one song after another. Also, her voice on the album has to be edited at least a little bit. On the band: Evanescence isn't really a band anymore--it seems more like it's just Amy Lee plus some guys in the background. Amy acts like she's the only person who really works in the band and everyone else just helps. That's sad, because the other guys actually are pretty important. Amy only sings and plays piano, she doesn't play guitars or bass or drums. She also doesn't write most of the songs by herself (Terry Balsamo, one of the guitarists, is her writing partner), but in interviews she talks about how "I wrote this song," when she probably wouldn't have been able to come up with the song on her own. Yes, she does write some of the music on her own (lithium, good enough, like you), but those are some of the weakest songs they have, compared to the ones they write together. The drama in the band is definitely starting to get annoying. I could understand the thing with Ben Moody. But Amy firing John LeCompt and Rocky Gray leaving was just too much. Amy fired John only because he didn't feel exactly the same way about the band as she did. That's just pathetic. John was a great contribution to the band and Amy should've been grateful that she had him, instead of being a little diva.

Evanescence has good music, but they're starting to go downhill.

25. (Evanescence) (20↑, 47↓)
A band who are alright. Don't get me wrong their music is great and all that. But [Amy Lee] really needs to get over herself. Anybody know the names of the people who play the actual music? No. I didn't think so. She should start to let the "band" get some credit for once. Amy lee this Amy Lee that. They is more than one person in the band.

Person 1: Wow Evanescence are SO good i love her\! Me: You love her? Don't you mean the band? Person 1: You mean, they is more than one person in the band? Oh. . .

A crappy band whose lead singer is Amy Lee. All of their songs are about depression, anger, and other such things, and they all sound the same. Thus, they become the boring, shitty band that they are.

Kid: Have you heard Evanescence's Bring Me To Life? What about My Immortal? Hello? Lithium? Kid 2: You mean they have more than one song?

The most contreversial and fake band I know. Not REALLY goth. Not "REALLY a christian" band. Not REALLY worth my time.

My god, my tourniquet. Heaven shine a light down on me. Not a christian band my ass. Evanescence...what happened?

28. (Evanescence) (48↑, 92↓)
Evanescence is fail. Evanescence was founded in Little Rock Arkansas and is basically about Amy Lee, singer, writing about her dead husband. Up until there recent album, The Open Door, they could be considered 'tolerable', but with there new album there not, there just a big ol' pile of FAIL\! Most of the people who like Evanescence only like them because of there T.O.D., those people are basically girl who think there all tough because they listen to this band and where skater shirts and probably have never stepped on a skateboard before, or little emo kids that think THERE so dark and alone because they think there life reflects that of the song "My Immortal" while in fact they have a really good life and they only complain becuase there mommy or daddy didn't feel like spending $300 on them for something mundane.

Hey, did you go see Evanescence last night? Why the fuck would I do that?\! There just cheap imitaions of Epica, Nightwish, Tristania, Within Temptation, and every good band that has a female singer\!

29. (Evanescence) (103↑, 148↓)
Popular band associated with 'goth culture' though the latter of the two statements could (And should.. by the power of me. I command\!) be perceived as false. Arguably while creating very accessible sounds which is in theory technically okay on CD. Is still unbearable to hear live as even some fans admit. Also the lead singer's voice would be without the infuence of Bush cause the Nato to attack America for not getting rid of unauthorised weapons of mass destruction. Although the editor of that voice is a very talented guy. As said, the Evanescence sound is accesible, thus apeals to a wide audience and emotional and atmospheric complexity is kept to a minimal level. Amy Lee is partially responsible for an increase in depression reports as well amongst fans as amongst people who happen to posses radios although the validy of the claims of the prior one should not be taken seriously and should be laughed upon. As also said the so called 'goth culture' it is associated with is a mistake maken by people who can't tell a pubical rebel dressed totally in black with extravagant apearance and heavily questionable intellectual abilities. From a goth who are mainly dressed totally in black with extravagant apearance and are able to - and will for the love of God do so whenever they have the chance - to demonstrate a highly developed range of knowledge and a philosphical way of approaching life. With that said, altough the Evenescence listeres at least try to hide it with faking depression, all of the in the above paragraph subculture inhabitands generally think they're culture is the best in the world. People who like Evanescence also have the intriging property of voting against urbandictionary difinitions which do not match there personal taste, thus this definition will probably be bannished to the final page.

Myself: i laik EvaneScenCe an oh i want 2 die\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!11\!\!\!\! People with at least two milion years of evolution ahead of me: Hmm. Despite the idea that everyone is off course in title to his musical taste and his desire to live. I'm affraid experience has led me to question the latter of your statements. Myself: but i dress blacker then j00??? dosnt that maek me more kewl???? People with at least two milion years of evolution ahead of me: I will now demonstrate my impeccable cognitive abillities irrelevant of this matter to you by proofing the first rule of euler.
